Auditions
What to expect?
Auditions are part of the casting process for a theater production. Actors perform prepared materials for the artistic team to help them cast the roles, including principal, supporting, and ensemble characters.
More specifics:
● Required: 1-minute song selection. This song should showcase the actor’s skill and ability. The length is up to one minute but can be less. The actor is encouraged to choose a song that is similar in style or in genre to that of the show.
● Optional: 1-minute monologue. A monologue is an excerpt of a script where a character is speaking for an extended period. The length is up to one minute but can be less. The actor should have fun with the monologue.

Call Backs
What to expect?
A callback is the next step in the casting process, where the artistic team invites actors back to audition for specific roles based on their initial audition. This allows the team to see more from the actors and determine the best fit for each part. Actors will receive call back materials to perform in the call back.
More specifics:
● Material: Actors will receive links and/or PDFs of scene(s) and music
● Process: Material does not need to be memorized for callbacks, but it is encouraged to be familiar with all material beforehand to ensure a smoother and more confident performance.

Coronado Junior Arts League is a nonprofit and registered IRS 501(c)(3) that represents decades of experience in stage and performing arts.
