Auditions

What to expect?
The audition process is a specific part of a theatre production called casting. Actors prepare materials to perform for the artistic team. The aim of auditions: to cast the various roles in the show which include principal & supporting characters as well as ensemble roles. More specifics:

  • Required for a Musical Theatre audition, prepare a song selection not to exceed 1-minute. This song should showcase the actor’s skill and ability. We highly encourage choosing a song that is similar in style/genre to the show to which you are auditioning.

  • An optional & highly encouraged second piece of our auditions, is to prepare a monologue not to exceed 1-minute. A monologue is an excerpt of a script where a character is speaking for an extended period.

  • Please be sure to prepare a song selection and, if possible, prepare a monologue as well.

Call Backs

What to expect?
The call back process is when the artistic team of the production “calls back” actors for specific roles that their initial audition has inspired. Actors will receive call back materials: specific pages from the script (scenes) and excerpt(s) of music (songs). The actors will need to familiarize themselves with the scenes and music. More specifics:

  • Actors will receive links and/or PDFs of both scene(s) and music

  • Material does not need to be fully memorized, but it is encouraged to be familiar with all material before coming to call backs.
